MacBook Pro 2016 - The First Not Recommended by Consumer Reports


On October 27th, Apple released one of their flagship products: the MacBook Pro 2016. With exciting new features like the Touch Bar and its extreme thinness, this MacBook Pro had a ton of potential. And yet, this is the first MacBook Pro that Consumer Reports was unable to recommend.


What happened?


Apple’s new MacBook Pro definitely taps into innovation with the Touch Bar technology, but what's missing is consistent battery life. Apple estimates that each MacBook Pro will have about 10 hours of battery life, which is already lower than the earlier generations of the MacBook Pro. Many accepted this as a sacrifice for a thinner device, but the 10 hours that was promised never came to be.


Many users have complained on online support communities about the battery life of the MacBook Pro with many users saying it couldn't even last for 2 to 2.5 hours after getting a full charge. In fact, the MacBook Pro's unreliable battery life was the main reason why Consumer Reports did not recommend the product.


Going Forward...


2016 was a rough year for the battery life of Apple devices. Hopefully, improved battery life was Apple's New Year's resolution.
